Since 2024, Nireas – Panagiotis Vekris studies at the Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport of the University of the Aegean, after competing in the Panhellenic Examinations of the same year.
He is an amateur ship photographer, an activity he pursues in his free time.
He studies books on shipping and researches past events that took place in Greece and its shipping industry.
He has written articles that have been published on news websites, concerning route modifications, government funding on barren routes, shipping exhibitions, World Lighthouse Day and more. They are accessible at the following link: https://vekris.gr/article-archive/.
He has been involved in volunteering since 2013 and from the age of seven (7) years old. He worked as a volunteer during the years 2013-2014 at the Loukoumi Festival (Syros), at the Syros Jazz Festival (2015) and since 2016 he continues his volunteer work at “ANO” International Organ Festival. Since 2018, he has taken over the duties of the Transport Coordinator.
He also holds the title of administrator of the Facebook groups “Islanders for the Transport Equivalent” and “The neoclassical buildings of Syros emit SOS”.
He was born in Amarousion, Attica, comes from Syros and grew up in the area of Zografou, where he graduated from the 6th General Lyceum of the same area, in the school year 2023-2024.
In the same year, he was a Member of the Council of Administration and Representative of the Student Communities in the School Committee of Secondary Education of the Municipality of Zografou, as elected President of the 15-member Student Council in the Lyceum where he attended.
